Piute Mountain School is exploring the idea of adopting Kern County’s Traditional school calendar
instead of the year round schedule. This would mean for the 2026-2027 school year, Piute would begin
the week of August 10, have one week o for Thanksgiving, two weeks o for Christmas, and one week
o for Easter, with the last day of school the last day of May. Year Round- Beginning week of June 6, 2
weeks break end of Sept., 3 week during Christmas, 2 weeks Spring Break and end of the school year
the last day of May.
